Sun, Sand & A Mescal Toast: A True Elegant-Rustic Wedding on the Beach

El Pescadero is a little beachfront community about 45 minutes south of the world-famous Cabo San Lucas.  Locals here call it the "Malibu of Cabo" and for good reason.  Dirt roads lead directly to empty, pristine beaches and beautiful villas with rustic palapa roofs directly on the sand. Located on the Pacific ocean, the sun sets right  in front of these villas, dipping behind the horizon. 

My bride and groom, Katy and Paul, found out about this paradise while visiting friends who were caretaking in the area. They fell in love with the area and knew immediately that this is where the San Diego couple had to get married! They contacted me, we hit it off, and together we created one of the most unique, special and full-of-love weddings I have had the opportunity to be a part of! (And I've been doing weddings for a long time!) 

They rented a private home (and several of the other homes on the bluff for their guests, such as Casa Azul) and we created a ceremony directly on the sand with a driftwood arch handcrafted by the groom and best man. 

Working with Cabo Flowers and Cakes, we created a bright and natural looking decor for both the bride's personal flowers and her table decor, using orange roses, white lysianthus and succulents.

With the tables set in long rows, directly on the sand, we draped bistro lighting to add a sensuous glow to the set-up.  The food and beverage was fresh, local and unique, provided by Cabo caterer, Lazy Gourmet Catering.  The homemade Mexican Chocolate-Chili ice-cream (made right on the beach) was a hit!

After the bride's dad's "Welcome," it was time for a traditional Mescal toast, complete with orange slices.  We also added some fun elements like a piñata (for the adults, not the kids!), some impromptu swimming in the pool, and dancing under the stars! A bonfire on the beach, with big pillows and S'Mores, lasted until 3 a.m. This wedding was truly a dream-come-true for this sweet and special couple!
